RePROVaD

Recombinant Proteins, Vaccines & Diagnostics redefining innovation and biotechnology research.

RePROVaD designs and manufactures recombinant proteins, subunit vaccines and diagnostic reagents for emerging infectious diseases. We move antigens from discovery through cGMP manufacturing to clinical translation, with candidates spanning human and animal health a product of the Government of Uganda, built at Makerere and COVAB.

We design & produce

We design and produce recombinant proteins, subunit vaccines, and diagnostic kits—the full chain from antigen design to a product on the shelf.

Vaccines in the Pipeline

Every candidate follows the same transparent, four-stage path from the bench to the market.

01

Preclinical Trials

Immunogenicity, toxicity and safety studies. Mpox, UTparVax & ASF vaccines.

02

cGMP Manufacturing

Production under a cGMP facility for use in clinical trials. COVID-19 UReCoV.

03

Clinical Trials

Testing for safety, immunogenicity and efficacy in humans.

04

Large-Scale Production

Protein production under GMP in a large facility, for distribution to market.

cGMP facility — construction under way. A dedicated current Good Manufacturing Practice facility is being built to supply clinical-trial-grade material and scale successful candidates toward the market.

Current candidates

UReCoV — COVID-19 vaccine

Target: SARS-CoV-2

Stage: cGMP production for clinical trials

Designed for broad protection against circulating variants, advancing toward Phase I/II readiness.

Mpox vaccine

Target: Monkeypox (Mpox) virus

Stage: Preclinical (immunogenicity, toxicity, safety)

Addresses the urgent need for Mpox vaccines in endemic regions.

UTparVax vaccine

Stage: Preclinical studies

A recombinant subunit candidate in immunogenicity and safety evaluation alongside the Mpox programme.

ASF vaccine

Target: African Swine Fever (livestock)

Stage: Preclinical

Protecting pig herds and the livelihoods that depend on them, tested in partnership with CLARF.

Ready for market

Two diagnostics have already cleared development and are ready to deploy products of the Government of Uganda.

Mpox RDT

A rapid diagnostic test for Mpox virus antigen (Monkeypox Ag). Point-of-care cassette format, no lab equipment required — built for outbreak response in endemic regions.

SARS-CoV-2 test

A test for SARS-CoV-2, developed alongside the Biomarker venture and ready for surveillance and clinical use. See Biomarker Kits for the underlying assay platform.
