Our Ventures
Five active biotechnology ventures spanning vaccines, diagnostics, pre-clinical research and innovation networks. Each is a dedicated team solving a critical infrastructure gap in African biotech.
Design and manufacture of recombinant proteins and subunit vaccines for emerging infectious diseases. Candidates span COVID-19 (UReCov), Mpox, UTparVax, and African Swine Fever, with an Mpox RDT and SARS-CoV-2 test already market-ready.
Antibody-based diagnostics built from the antigen up: SARS-CoV-2 proteins expressed in E. coli, surveillance ELISA, monoclonal and secondary antibodies, and lateral-flow RDTs from Uganda to Africa.
A shared pre-clinical facility at COVAB, Makerere University, for in vivo efficacy and safety studies, biological-molecule production, lab-animal breeding, and drug efficacy consultancy. It can be accessed at CLARF
Recombinant vaccine development targeting tick-borne diseases that devastate East African cattle and wildlife, protecting livestock livelihoods, food security, and regional export.
